Pet of the Week - Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue 5-23-17

The Hot Morning Show did not just have “A” Pet of the Week, but numerous pets this Tuesday! Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue in Stillwater is currently housing over 115 kittens, most of which are still bottle feeding and under medical care provided through donations and volunteers with the rescue. Dee shared with Corliss that a few of the kittens will be ready for their forever homes in about 10 days. Since graduation, Tiny Paws has lost about 80% of its volunteers and is in great need of helping hands. Times are not restricting as they could use as little as two hours of your time a week, ages 18 and older. Check out the Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue Facility at 901 S Lowry, or call 405-612-0071 for more information on how to help! Listen for the full interview below.

Pet of the Week - Stillwater Humane Society 5-16-17

This “sweetie” is Honey Bun! A senior, about 11 years old Shiba Inu Mix. Her elderly owner had cancer and came home to other health issues and could not longer keep her after adopting her from the Humane Society of Stillwater nearly 9 years ago. She is a real Sweetie that would love a Forever Family that will spoil her and love her. Honey would do best in a home without cats and would need to meet other potential dog siblings. You can find all of the Humane Society's adoptable pets at www.PetFinder.com or e-mail shelter@hspets.org!

With students leaving for the summer, the Humane Society of Stillwater is in need for foster homes and supplies everything you need to care for an animal in your home, given you supply the love and attention they deserve. Listen to our full interview below with Jackie on more information on how to help rescues in need!

Pet of the Week - Perkins Animal Shelter 5-2-17

The special guest this Tuesday on Hot 93.7 came from the Perkins Animal Shelter. Her name is Lola and she is a 2 to 3 year old Kelpie mix looking for her forever home. Colleen, Animal Shelter Director shared with us that Lola has completed some obedience training through the Parole a Pet Program so she already knows most commands and is a very well behaved girl. She would love space to run and a family to give her lots of snuggles once she’s tuckered out.

We are also planning ahead for the Perkins Animal Shelter’s Pup-A-Palooza which will take place on June 8th. This event is open to all and will include kids games, food, vendors and of course, pet adoption! For more information on Lola, and all of the shelter's adoptable pets or how you can help, please call 405-547-2445 or find Perkins Animal Shelter on Facebook!

POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER- WALK N' WAG TAKING PLACE MAY 6TH

Jackie from the Humane Society of Stillwater brought in a handsome gentleman for Hot 93.7’s Pet of the Week! Copper is about 8 or 9 months old and we think he is a Lab/Pitbull mix. He is very friendly, and playful. Copper likes other dogs and he walks well on a leash.  Copper is a High Energy dog so he needs and active person that will take him hiking, biking, running, or walking.  He also needs a big yard to run and play in.  He currently weighs 40 pounds and is $80 to adopt.  He Graduated from the Dogs of Lincoln Program and so he knows all of his basic commands and is house broken.

Jackie was also kind enough to share details about this weekend's events at Boomer Lake. Walk-N-Wag is an annual outdoor event for dogs and their people and the largest fundraising event of the year to benefit the Humane Society of Stillwater. This Saturday, April 29th you can enter with, or without your pet for the 5K race and 1 mile fun run/walk! Registration will begin at 9:00am at the “Barketplace” located in the Kicker parking lot on the East side of Boomer Lake, or register early at www.HSPets.Org

Pet of the Week - Animal Welfare 4-11-17

We’ve officially had the most unique mix as the Pet of the Week on Hot 93.7’s Hot Morning Show! From Stillwater Animal Welfare you can meet Suzu, a one and a half year old Pug/Chihuahua/Doxie! She only weighs around 10 pounds full grown. Suzu has been adopted once already and unfortunately was not a good fit for her last home. What Animal Welfare did learn from that experience is that she is very friendly with cats and possibly other pets! Just needs a little work or refresher on her potty training. I can be easy to get lost in Suzu’s sweet, big eyes but if your household was looking for something different, she is not the only pet looking for a forever home right now. Visit the Animal Shelter at 1710 South Main in Stillwater and see the numerous adoptable pets, as they are quite full for the time being. In the case that you lose your pet, or see one in the Stillwater area that seems as if it has gotten out of its home, contact the Stillwater Police Department/ Animal Welfare to assist! Hear the full interview with Animal Shelter Director, Mary Dickey below.

If you were looking to adopt Suzu, or your own dog is in need of some refreshers, Pet of the Week sponsor, Trinity Veterinary Hospital will be offering a 4 week obedience class starting April 18th! Call today to save your spot, 405-533-0001

Pet of the Week - Trinity Veterinary Hospital with Stillwater Animal Welfare Coalition

Originally, Perkins Animal Shelter was supposed to join Corliss on the Hot Morning Show for the Pet of the Week, but the puppy was adopted right before their appearance and had no more animals in the shelter at this time. It’s a problem I like to hear! Unfortunately not the case for many other rescues featured on the show. So to step in was the Pet of the Week sponsor, Dr. Bonds with Trinity Veterinary Hospital in Stillwater. With warm weather well on the, Dr. Bonds had plenty to talk about on the subject of flea and tick preventatives. Fleas and ticks can carry deadly diseases that will rack up quite a bill, as well as cause much pain for your pet and family. So prevention is key! She was also very excited to announce that Trinity has broken ground for their new outdoor Doggy Daycare facility, which will allow for dogs to run, play and socialize with others in a safe and clean environment. Keeping both dog and owner happy!

Dr. Bonds has mentioned many times the work she is doing with Stillwater Animal Welfare Coalition, so we were very excited to have her guest, Leva. They both wanted to stress the need of volunteers and the need for a new facility to help the pets at Stillwater Animal Welfare. You can help by visiting www.StillwaterAWC.Weebly.com

Pet of the Week - Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue 3-28-17

The Pet of the Week this morning on Hot 93.7 is a bit of a local celebrity. Agave’s story began quite tragically, as she was thrown away as a kitten and found in a dumpster with a broken back. Thanks to the Wonkey Fund established by Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue, she has received all the medical needs and care appropriate to live a long, full and happy life. Odds are she may end up spending the rest of that life out at the rescue unless the appropriate family becomes available to adopt.

Dee, the director at Tiny Paws also told us that as expected, they have already rescued four litters of kittens that are being treated and bottle fed so they can grow up strong and eventually find their forever home. One way to help is the obvious choice to have your pets spayed/ neutered, another will be coming this April! You can sign up now for the Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue “All FORE The Kittens” Golf Tournament taking place at The Links Golf Course on N. Washington in Stillwater, April 22nd. You can sign up singles, doubles or a full four person team now by visiting their Facebook Page, or stop by the rescue located on S. Lowery in Stillwater.

Coming to Hot 93.7’s Hot Morning Show from Stillwater Animal Welfare is the Pet of the Week, Howland! Whose name suits this one year old pup very well as he his a Beagle and loves to chat. Howland stands about 15 inches tall which makes him a nice small dog that could fit in many different living situations. Now if your household was looking for something different, he is not the only pet looking for a forever home right now.

Pet of the Week - Perkins Animal Shelter

The special guest this Tuesday on Hot 93.7 came from the Perkins Animal Shelter. His name is Dublin, a 1 to 1 1/2 year old mix puppy looking for his forever home. Colleen, Animal Shelter Director shared with us how truly charming this young dog can be. Dublin is learning his manners and is eager to please, but will take patience as most young dogs will. If you were unaware, the Perkins Animal Shelter is tied with the City of Perkins and constantly has pets up for adoption as well as they are who you contact in case of an animal related emergency. For more information on Dublin, and all of the shelter's adoptable pets or how you can help, please call 405-547-2445 or find Perkins Animal Shelter on Facebook

Pet of the Week - Stillwater Humane Society 2-28-17

The special guest this Tuesday on Hot 93.7 came from The Humane Society of Stillwater, located at 1710 S. Main St. Stillwater, OK. Those precious ears belong to Troya, an estimated one and a half year mixed puppy. She has unfortunately spent a great deal of time waiting for her forever family, since December 15th to be exact. Troya is extremely eager to please, and greets you with kisses and a wagging tail. She would be happy in a home with an active family and has experience around other dogs and children, hasn’t been tested with cats yet. She loves tennis balls, almost as much as she likes to settle down and snuggle. If your legs can handle it, this 50lb baby would be a great lap dog.

If you are unable to adopt, maybe fostering is right up your alley. When you foster through the Humane Society of Stillwater, they provide everything you would need to care for the animal, they just need the love and shelter until the pet finds their forever home. You can find Troya, and information on her adoptable friends at www.hspets.org.

Listen below as Corliss speaks with Jackie about Troya, and the Humane Society of Stillwater.

Pet of the Week - Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue 2-21-17

SPONSORED BY: TRINITY VETERINARY HOSPITAL AND PET RESORT

The pint sized guest on today’s Hot Morning Show on Hot 93.7 was the four month old male kitten, Waffle, from Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue at 901 S. Lowery in Stillwater. Waffle shared lots of purrs and love to tell everyone listening that he is ready for his forever home, which he will go with shots, neutered and fully socialized as he has been raised with over 80 volunteers since birth and through bottle feeding. Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue is Oklahoma's only rescue based on the care of neo-natal, bottle fed, abandoned kittens whose mothers were possibly lost, sick or had passed. Maybe a new kitten is not quite the fit for your home. There are so many different sources to help! Dee, the President of the Board of Directors for Tiny Paws shared with us this morning that the rescue sets aside a special fund, called the “Wonky Fund” to benefit cats that do not fit into the bottle-fed mold but are still in immediate need of health care. Kitten rescues often have an abundance of new litters each spring due to strays and outside cats that have not been spayed/neutered. Due to the demand Tiny Paws will be facing this coming March/April, they will be hosting a "Baby Shower" at the rescue on February 25th from 1:00pm-4:00pm. There will be activities, refreshments and of course kitten meet and greets! You can bring a shower gift in the form of baby blankets, cleaning supplies and more. Looking ahead, Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue will feature a Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 22nd and are now accepting teams, sponsorships and donations! To find more information on these events and a full list of wants and needs to benefit the rescue, an adoption form or even a live video feed of the kittens, find Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue's Facebook Page!
