Responsibilities of Management/Enforcement/Dissemination of EEO Policies David Harrison, General Manager of Stillwater Radio, has overall responsibility of hiring and of enforcing all EEO policies and to continually review our employment unit’s performance and adherence to the Commission’s EEO rules. All current employees have been advised of our stations’ EEO policies and have received a written copy of same. Future employees will be advised of our EEO policies during the interview process. Employees have been encouraged to advise their immediate supervisor of any complaints they may have of prejudice or discrimination in the workplace. SUPPLEMENTAL OUTREACH INITIATIVES February 1, 2017 – January 31, 2018 KSPI-AM/FM – KGFY - KVRO STILLWATER, OK
1st Initiative Sponsored “Women’s Night Out” Thursday, March 23, 2017, 5pm – 8pm with other area businesses. The event was held at Payne County Expo Center with various businesses in our region. Our employment unit provided information about the broadcast industry for interested participants. Station personnel were on-hand throughout this event to answer questions of any job seekers to the broadcast industry.
2nd Initiative Co-sponsored with OSU Student Government Association, “Lights on Stillwater”. This event was held August 23, 2017, 7pm-9pm T Boone Pickens Stadium located on the OSU Campus. With 200+ local business vendors distributing sample products to more than 5,000 + attendees. Event was so large a segment of Hall of Fame between Washington and Knoblock was closed from mid-morning until the end of the event. Stillwater Radio manned a booth with our radio personnel to afford attendees the opportunity to visit with our radio team, ask questions about our employment unit and broadcasting, execute applications and schedule interviews with Stillwater Radio.
3rd Initiative On March 23, 2017, David Harrison, Stillwater Radio General Manager met with OSU Student Union Student Government Association Senior Administration Support Assistant Susan Simmons to outline career opportunities with Stillwater Radio which in turn she will convey to the various OSU Media Departments in regards to the broadcasting industry. Both David Harrison, General Manager and Susan Simmons met again on January 5, 2018 to discuss upcoming broadcast opportunities at Stillwater Radio in the future.
4th Initiative Co-sponsored with Stillwater Medical Center, “Stillwater Health Day”, an eight (8) hour expo held at the Wes Watkins Center, previously scheduled for a TBD date in July of 2017, was rescheduled for September 12, 2017. This expo generated attention and services to physical, financial, and economic partners within the Stillwater community. This said event was promoted heavily and our employment unit was available to distribute materials in regards to hiring within the broadcast industry.
5th Initiative Sponsored a seminar “To Sell The Truth” with presentation provided by Paul Weyland, September 19, 2017 at 8am. Event was held at Stillwater Community Center, 315 West 8th Avenue, Stillwater, OK. Metro First and Interlinc helped to co-sponsor in conjunction with bringing this exciting seminar to Stillwater. Approximate attendance was 70 + Stillwater and surrounding area businesses, some being current clients of Stillwater Radio, others potential future clients.
6th Initiative Co-sponsored with OSU Grad College, a 3MT Competition among broadcasting students. Stillwater Radio General Manager, David Harrison was a judge on the panel competition voting. The event was held 11/15/17, at 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm for judging overview, with main event at 3:30 pm – 5:00pm in the OSU Student Union Theatre.
7th Initiative As part of our supplemental outreach initiative, Stillwater Radio co-sponsored a career fair “Discovery Day” at the Meridian Technology Center held at their Stillwater campus. This career fair occurred December 6, 2017, 12 noon to 4 pm. At this job fair, prospective employees listened to a presentation in regards to opportunities within our company and the skills necessary for a successful career in broadcasting. Participants were also given the chance to visit with Bill Vanness, employee of Stillwater Radio, ask questions, complete applications, submit resume’s and schedule an interview.
Activities to fulfill:
In continuing with our supplemental outreach initiative, we are scheduled to participate in the “OSU Mock Interview Day” at the Gallagher-Iba Arena on the Campus of Oklahoma State University, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, February 20th and 21st, 2018.
Stillwater Radio will once again be working with Oklahoma State University broadcast and journalism departments, offering internships for the Spring/Summer 2018 and Fall/Winter 2018 Semesters. Stillwater Radio will be hosting (sponsoring) “Women’s Night Out” on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Payne County Events Center with various businesses in our region and will provide information regarding the broadcast industry to diverse participants who have an interest in a position within the radio industry.
We will again co-sponsor an event with Stillwater Medical, “Stillwater Health Day” emphasizing on our community’s physical, financial and economic wellness. It will be held at the Stillwater Medical Center campus sites sometime during July 31, 2018 with exact date to be announced later.
Co-sponsoring with the OSU Student Government Association, “Lights on Stillwater”. This event is planned for August 15, 2018 at the OSU campus. Expect over 200 local business vendors distributing samples of their products. Stillwater Radio will man a booth with our radio personnel to afford the opportunity to visit with our team, ask questions about our employment unit and broadcasting, complete applications and schedule future interviews with our entity.
Stillwater Radio will participate in the Meridian Technology Career Fair scheduled for December 5, 2018. The event will be held at the Tech Center. At this job fair, prospective employees will have a chance to listen to a presentation in regards to on-air sales opportunities within our company and the skills necessary for a successful career in broadcasting. Participants will be allowed the chance to visit with Stillwater Radio on-air personality Bill Vanness, ask questions, complete applications, submit resume’s and schedule an interview.
Stillwater Radio Employment Entity will also be looking into attending additional job fairs in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Area Community Colleges during this specific upcoming EEO reporting period, February 1, 2018 – January 31, 2019.
