Responsibilities of Management/Enforcement/Dissemination of EEO Policies

 

David Harrison, General Manager of Stillwater Radio, has overall responsibility of hiring and of enforcing all EEO policies and to continually review our employment unit’s performance and adherence to the Commission’s EEO rules. 

 

All current employees have been advised of our stations’ EEO policies and have received a written copy of same.  Future employees will be advised of our EEO policies during the interview process. Employees have been encouraged to advise their immediate supervisor of any complaints they may have of prejudice or discrimination in the workplace.

Stillwater Radio, constantly analyzes its EEO Recruitment Program and to its effectiveness and outreach. SUPPLEMENTAL OUTREACH INITIATIVES

February 1, 2016 – January 31, 2017

KSPI-AM/FM – KGFY - KVRO

STILLWATER, OK

 

1st Initiative                                                    Sponsored “Women’s Night Out” Thursday, March 24, 2016 with other area businesses. The event was held at Payne County Events Center with various businesses in our region. Our employment unit provided information about the broadcast industry for interested participants. Station personnel were on-hand throughout this event to answer questions of any job seekers to the broadcast industry.

 

 

2nd Initiative                                                  Stillwater Radio General Manager David Harrison met with Director Bobbi Kay Lewis of the OSU Arts and Sciences Outreach Program. This meeting was to share strategies on recruitment to Stillwater Radio and the OSU Summer Art Academy for which this employment entity lends media awareness.

 

 

3rd Initiative                                                   On June 1, 2016, David Harrison, Stillwater Radio General Manager met with OSU Student Union Student Government Association Senior Administration Support Assistant Susan Simmons to outline career opportunities with Stillwater Radio which in turn she will convey to the various OSU Media Departments in regards to the broadcasting industry.

 

 

4th Initiative                                                     Co-sponsored with Stillwater Medical Center, “Stillwater Health Day”, an eight (8) hour expo held at the Wes Watkins Center. This expo generated attention and services to physical, financial, and economic partners within the Stillwater community. This said event was promoted heavily and our employment unit was available to distribute materials in regards to hiring within the broadcast industry.

 

 

5th Initiative                                                     On August 17, 2016 Stillwater Radio co-sponsored with the OSU Student Government Association  “Lights on Stillwater” event held on OSU campus. This event was inclusive of 200 plus local business vendors who distributed samples of their products. Stillwater Radio engaged several hundred students at our booth, affording each the opportunity to visit with our radio team, ask questions, complete applications and schedule interviews.

 

6th Initiative                                                     Sponsored a seminar on Customer Service to the Pawnee Tribal Development  Corporation located  in Pawnee, Oklahoma on November 16, 2016. This seminar was held over two (2) sessions that day.  David Harrison, General Manager of Stillwater Radio lectured the 175 attendees on the opportunities the broadcast industry offers to qualified personnel. All attendees had the chance to visit with David, ask questions, execute applications and schedule interviews.

 

 

 

7th Initiative                                                     As part of our supplemental outreach initiative, Stillwater Radio co-sponsored a career fair at the Meridian Technology Center held at their Stillwater campus. This career fair occurred December 7, 2016, 12 noon to 4 pm.          

 

                                                                        At this job fair, prospective employees listened to a presentation in regards to opportunities within our company and the skills necessary for a successful career in broadcasting.  Participants were also given the chance to visit with Bill Vanness, employee of Stillwater Radio, ask questions, complete applications, submit resume’s and schedule an interview.

 

 

8th Initiative                                                   Participated in an internship program in conjunction with Osage Nation Education Departments, offering internship with Stillwater Radio for the summer 2016 and Fall/Winter 2016 semesters. Wilma Redcorn was our paid intern starting 6/2/2016, learning firsthand the broadcast industry.

 

                                                                        July 16, 2016 she was promoted from her previous position of Administrative Assistant to the Traffic department within Stillwater Radio.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Activities to fulfill:                                         In continuing with our supplemental outreach initiative, we are scheduled to participate in the “OSU Mock Interview Day” at the Gallagher-Iba Arena on the Campus of Oklahoma State University, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, February 9, 2017.  

 

 

Stillwater Radio will once again be working with Oklahoma State University broadcast and journalism departments, offering internships for the Spring/Summer 2017 and Fall/Winter 2017 Semesters.                     

 

                                                                        Stillwater Radio will be hosting (sponsoring) “Women’s Night Out” on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Payne County Events Center with various businesses in our region and will provide information regarding the broadcast industry to diverse participants who have an interest in a position within the radio industry.

 

                                                                        We will again co-sponsor an event with Stillwater Medical, “Stillwater Health Day”

                                                                        emphasizing on our community’s physical, financial and economic wellness. It will be held at the Stillwater Medical Center campus sites sometime during July 2017, with exact date to be announced later.

 

                                                                        Co-sponsoring with the OSU Student Government Association, “Lights on Stillwater”. This event is planned for August 16, 2017 at the OSU campus. Expect over 200 local business vendors distributing samples of their products. Stillwater Radio will man a booth with our radio personnel to afford the opportunity to visit with our team, ask questions about our employment unit and broadcasting, complete applications and schedule future interviews with our entity.

                                                                                   

 

 

Stillwater Radio will participate in the Meridian Technology Career Fair to be held at a date to be determined in December 2017. The event will be held at the Tech Center.

 

At this job fair, prospective employees will have a chance to listen to a presentation in regards to on-air sales opportunities within our company and the skills necessary for a successful career in broadcasting.  Participants will be allowed the chance to visit with Stillwater Radio on-air personality Bill Vanness, ask questions, complete applications, submit resume’s and schedule an interview.

 

Stillwater Radio Employment Entity will also be looking into attending additional job fairs in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Area Community Colleges during this specific upcoming EEO reporting period, February 1, 2017 – January 31, 2018.
